International Lectures

Internationalising Austrian Universities:
Contexts – Strategies – Perspectives

A Joint Event of Austrian Universities, OeAD, Universities Austria,
in cooperation with the Austrian National Student Union

Designing sustainable internationalization strategies and mastering global challenges will have a strong impact on the universities’ future. During a series of INTERNATIONAL LECTURES, experts have discussed challenges and opportunities presented by an increasingly international and intercultural setting at universities. University leaders have addressed how to internationalize research and teaching to a greater extent as well as how to include current social and economic issues in the curricula.

Setting and target audience

The INTERNATIONAL LECTURES were structured in a way that they addressed both local and global questions regarding internationalization. In each semester they were hence held in a different Austrian province and hosted by a different university. Perspectives of researchers and students were treated equally when they responded to the lecture and they will be supplemented by a discussion in the plenary. Each panel discussion included experts from faculty, students and society. Journalists were asked to chair the panels as a symbol of the importance of internationalisation for society.
